Deacon Martin P. LoMonaco, Permanent Deacon, Saint Agnes Parish, West Chester, PA, died on Friday, November 28, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

Deacon LoMonaco was born on October 26, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY. He was employed as a professor of communications for over 30 years. For the last ten years, he was a professor at Neumann University in Aston, PA. He was bestowed the title of Professor Emeritus from SUNY Albany. He held three masters degrees as well as a Ph.D. His academic areas of expertise were communications, media, and speech.

Deacon LoMonaco was ordained for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY on May 26, 2001, by Most Reverend Emil C. Wcela and was assigned to Saint Francis de Chantal Parish where he served until June, 2003. In 2008, Deacon LoMonaco obtained permission from the Most Reverend Gregory John Mansour, Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn, NY, to serve at Saint Sharbel Maronite Church, Newtown Square, PA. He served there until late 2013. On January 10, 2014, Deacon LoMonaco was assigned to Saint Agnes Parish in West Chester, PA. Deacon LoMonaco remained incardinated for the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Donahue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382. Reception of the Body and a viewing will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 9 AM, Saint Agnes Parish, 233 W. Gay Street, West Chester, PA 19380. The Funeral liturgy will follow at 10 AM. Principal celebrant will be the Most Reverend John J. McIntyre. The reverend Alfonso Concha will be the concelebrant. The Deacon of the Mass and homilist will be Deacon Thomas Shurer. Deacons of Communion will be Deacon Clement J. McGovern and Deacon Victor Gonzalez.

Deacon LoMonaco is survived by Lisa (nee Saggese), his wife of 17 years, 16-year old daughter, Julianna; and, a 13-year old son, Noel.
