Reverend George B. Moore, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Benedict Parish, Philadelphia, died at Saint Joseph Villa, Flourtown, on Saturday, December 19, 2014.

Father Moore was born on October 18, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late George Boyce Moore and the late Jean Santilla. Father Moore attended Saint Callistus Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint Thomas More High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Moore was ordained on May 21, 1966, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Moore served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Timothy Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Mark Parish, Bristol; Saint Raymond of Penafort Parish, Philadelphia; and Saint Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Philadelphia. In November 1978, he was appointed Pastor, Saint Benedict Parish, Philadelphia, and named Pastor Emeritus in 2013.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Benedict Church, on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be held at 7:00 PM. Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Moore at Saint Benedict Church, on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 8:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend James A. Grant, Reverend Anayo Nna, C.Ss.R.,

Reverend Joseph F. Okonski, Reverend Sylvester Peterka, C.M., Reverend Monsignor Samuel E. Shoemaker, Reverend Christopher M. Walsh, and Reverend Monsignor Richard Youtz, Diocese of Harrisburg.. Monsignor Youtz will be the homilist.

Father Moore is survived by his sister-in-law, Gail Moore, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
