The Office for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs serves as a resource for the Archdiocese, its parishes and institutions, in ecumenical and interreligious affairs.
This Office reflects and expresses “that ecumenism, the movement promoting Christian unity is not just some sort of ‘appendix’ which is added to the Church’s traditional activity. Rather, ecumenism is an organic part of her life and work, and consequently must pervade all that she is and does.” (Ut Unum Sint, 20)
This Office heeds the words of Vatican II. “The Church, therefore, urges its sons and daughters to enter with prudence and charity into discussion and collaboration with members of other religions. Let Christians, while witnessing to their faith and way of life, acknowledge, preserve and encourage the spiritual and moral truths found among non-Christians, together with their social life and culture.” (Nostra Aetate, 2)
